Will I loose any picture quality when transfering film from my camcorder on Hi-8 Tape to DVD? - camcorder excellent picture quality

I would like Hi-8 analog tapes DVD.I thinking of buying a DVD recorder and connect my camera with a Super-VHS inputs result in picture quality I get when I see the Play recorder.The DVD thanks to my Sharp Television is, I go to this excellent quality, if I miss a DVD on a DVD burner. Can anyone recommend a good DVD recorder with an S-Video?
